Office Seating
Office seating is becoming more important due to the increased reliance on computers and spending all day sat at a desk. Ergonomics and Health and Safety regulations also have a large part to play in ensuring that employees are sitting properly and comfortably, and are able to carry out their duties effectively.
Operator chairs that have castors and swivel round are the traditional type of office seating, and there are now many different styles and designs ranging from the traditional to the contemporary. High and medium back styles are available and are suitable for different needs, as some people will spend all day at their desk, and others will spend some time at their desk. Office seating needs to be adjustable to ensure the right levels of comfort and support. Some models of office seating will have adjustable back rest height and adjustable arms. Other chairs may have angle adjustable backs so that the most comfortable position is easily found. In environments where chairs may be used by different people, the office seating will need to be adjustable so that the chairs can be comfortably used by most people.
Office seating is available in styles with or without arms for convenience. A mesh back is available on some types of office chairs for those who don't spend all day at their desk and so may not need the additional lumbar support that a padded seat can provide.
To help maintain a corporate image, visitor seating is often available in the same style of office seating as an operator chair, but the visitor chairs will often have legs rather than castors.
As office seating is available in different styles, some chairs may not be suitable for all office environments. The type of office seating required by a bank or a firm of solicitors is likely to differ from the office seating requirements of a more creative environment such as a PR firm or a TV company. Some models of chair are understated, and will almost blend in with the office, whilst other types of office seating are bold, bright and colourful and are designed to be noticed.
The right office seating should help to maintain the correct posture and help to prevent RSI and back related injuries. A well-engineered, highly adjustable chair will also be comfortable and allow the person sitting in the chair to carry out their duties in a comfortable environment.
Office seating doesn't have to just mean operator chairs or rows of desks. Comfortable soft seating for reception and visitor areas is important, so that people visiting are welcomed with a good first impression of the company. Sofas, individual chairs and stylish leather chairs can brighten up or help to improve the image of an office or a company.
Breakout areas are increasingly popular and can be used to get away from the desk whilst still being in the office. Creative and productive activities such as brainstorming sessions or additional meetings can be carried out in breakout areas and so a different type of office seating is more appropriate. Using comfortable sofas, or individual chairs, as well as bright colours and low coffee or café style tables can help to change the mood and atmosphere, and help provide the required inspiration without having to leave the office.
Depending on the environment and the type of company, there may be more sofas and armchairs than traditional office seating. Employees at an advertising or design company may be more creative when sat on a sofa or at benches rather than sat at a desk all day. For a firm of solicitors or a call centre environment, this type of seating is unlikely to be appropriate.
No matter what reason you have for changing your office chairs, Hunters Contracts can meet your needs with the right office seating.
